Teach for OLLI

OLLI is currently seeking instructors to teach day, evening and Saturday courses and workshops in a wide variety of areas, including art, foreign language, history, current events, international affairs, government and politics, philosophy and the social sciences~ just to name a few.  Instructors are needed in both Sioux Falls and Brookings.  Read below for more information!

Dear Prospective OLLI Instructor,

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute offers instructors an opportunity to teach adult learners who have a passion for learning and a curiosity about many things.  At OLLI there are no grades, no credit, no tests--just the pleasure of sharing your knowledge and experience with those who greatly appreciate that gift. These unique students truly appreciate their courses and the expertise of those that teach them.

Course scheduling is very flexible, but typically a course meets once per week for two to six weeks, 90 minutes to two hours per class.  You may also choose to offer a single lecture on a compelling topic. Classes are offered days, evenings, and Saturday mornings.  OLLI has three terms per year: fall (Sept. - Nov.), winter (Jan. - Feb.) and spring (Apr. - June).  To see descriptions of our current and past courses, click on the "Courses" tab in this website.

Preference is strongly given to those who have had significant teaching experience.

OLLI reserves the right to select or reject courses based on the needs of the program and interests of its members.

Instructors are paid a contact hour fee. (Some have chosen to generously donate all or a portion of their compensation back to OLLI.)  For more information on OLLI instructor compensation, click here.

If you are interested in teaching an OLLI class, please download, complete and submit the course proposal form, along with a current resume, to me at the address below.  OLLI's Curriculum Committee meets once every month or two and someone will be in touch with you about your proposal within a month after you submit it. For more information on the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at University Center, click here. Please feel free to contact me directly with questions or to follow up on the status of your course proposal.

Thank you and best wishes,
